Identification of Factors Influencing Football Kindergarten with a Physical Literacy Approach

Abstract

This study aimed to identify the factors influencing football kindergartens from the approach of physical literacy. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with 18 experts, including academic scholars, managers, grassroots football coaches, and child specialists, using snowball sampling until theoretical saturation was reached. The data were analyzed using MAXQDA 20 software. The findings yielded 61 open codes categorized into seven themes: Individual Factors: individual differences, children's participation, child nutrition, child’s age, child obesity, child motivation, personal interest, children’s emotions, Children’s Interaction, physical injuries. Facilities and Equipment: child-appropriate equipment, Educational environment, suitable grass field, playground, welfare facilities, child-friendly decoration, hardware infrastructure, software infrastructure, educational supplies. Family Factors: family support, family income, Family Participation, parents' education. Organizational Factors: competent coaches, Proper management, communication with families, accessibility, educational content, proper planning, Support of Managers, coach training, financial resources, Compliance with equipment standards, curriculum, curriculum needs assessment, medical consultants, nutrition consultants, screening, lack of attention by executive managers to academic research. Cultural Factors: appropriate advertising, utilization of media capacity, societal values, computer games, societal perspectives, managers’ attitudes. Social Factors: education system, football federation, sports and youth administration, Football Committee, universities, municipality, supervisory bodies, sports role models, government support, sports philanthropists, Ministry of Sports, governorate, Basij. Legal Factors: laws and regulations, higher-level documents, football kindergarten bylaws. Consequently, identifying the factors affecting football kindergartens with a physical literacy approach is crucial for defining and implementing updated and more comprehensive programs.
