Effects of ethical leadership style on organizational adaptability with the mediating role of communication skills and occupational adjustment in Iranian sports federations

Abstract

Purpose: Here, the effects of ethical leadership style on organizational adaptability with the mediating role of communication skills and occupational adjustment in Iranian sports federations have been studied.

Methods: The statistical population of the research consisted of all the managers and employees of the country's sports federations (51 federations) and their subordinate sports councils, of which 384 employees and managers were selected as a statistical sample through face-to-face and online questionnaires.

Results: Structural equations were calculated by Amos software and the final model was presented. The findings demonstrated that all paths of the proposed research model were confirmed; meanwhile, the highest effect is related to the effect of ethical leadership on communication skills with 51 percent. According to the effect of the variables identified in this research, communication skills with 49% and occupational adjustment with 23% have a significant effect on the adaptability of the organization; and ethical leadership has a 37%_effect on organizational adaptability.

Conclusion: ethical leadership style has a positive and significant effect both directly and indirectly on organizational adaptability in sports federations, through adaptability and occupational communication skills in socially accepting organizations in sports federations; therefore, it is recommended to the managers of federations and their subordinate sports councils to change their traditional leadership styles and use an ethical leadership style that will lead to the improvement of communication skills and occupational adjustment of employees, which will ultimately lead to the improvement of the organizational adaptability process in sports federations
