Study on the Effects of Holding Sport Events on the Development of the Host Community

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of holding international events on the host community. These effects have been discussed and studied in four dimensions of economic prosperity, promotion of community culture, prosperity of tourism industry, improvement of living conditions in the host community. In terms of purpose, this research is applied exploratory research and in terms of inference method, it is a descriptive-analytical survey method. The statistical population of this study included the experts of Ardabil general administration of sports and youth and the executive agents of the Wrestling Federation in the fifth round of the of wrestling competitions in Ardabil Clubs Cup, as well as a number of university professors, athletes and coaches of the Ardabil province with the related experience. The statistics of this study, which was obtained through the widely used formula of Charles Cochran, included 123 people who were selected by simple random sampling from each organization. A researcher-made questionnaire was used for data collection. Pearson correlation and regression tests were used to analyze the data, and data analysis was done by spss22 software. The results of this research confirm of all the dimensions in evaluating the effects of hosting sports competitions and none of them can be considered affectless. Holding a sporting event is effective in the economic, cultural, tourism and environmental sectors.
